Mantegna at the Louvre
France (Paris)
26 Sep 2008 - 5 Jan 2009
Paris' Louvre dedicates a major retrospective to Renaissance master and court painter Mantegna (1431-1506). This display is the most important collection of his works ever to be assembled outside of Italy.
Alongside contemporaries Donatello and Alberti, Andrea Mantegna drew on antiquarian sources as the inspiration for his canvases, frescos and sculptures.
